Kukljica is a picturesque tourist and fishing village on the island of Ugljan near Zadar, well- connected to the mainland by car ferry. Its thick pine wood, lovely beaches, crystal clear sea and a lot of sun combine to make a perfect holiday. Kukljica can be called the "gateway to the Telaæica Nature Park and the Kornati National Park " since it is located at the island`s extreme southwestern point, close to the Zdrelac straits. The old center of Kukljica, with its original example of local , "people`s " architecture, is divided from the tourist peninsula called Zelena punta by a large natural inlet with a port always full of fishing boats and sailboats. Attractive sandy beaches shaded by centuries-old pines, Sabua, Kostanj and Jelenica, can be found on both sides of the island. A valuable monument is the renewed fifteenth-century Church of St. Jerome in the cove of Kostanj. Every year, on the "Feast of Our Lady of the Snow" ( 5 August ) an attractive procession of boats is held from Kukljica to the Church of Our Lady of the Snow in the Zdrelac straits , where according to legend snow fell in the middle of summer four hundred years ago.
