Near the islands of Ugljan
and Pasman , are situated many national
parks of Republic Croatia
|
"Paklenica"
National park
Paklenica lies on the south, the
sea-facing side of the Velebit range. It was proclaimed a
national park not long after Plitvice, also in 1949, but here
the tradition of preservation has a somewhat longer history.
Paklenica along with a number of other areas was designated
a nati-onal park in 1928 but, unforunately, on the a basis
of an inadequate law with only temporary validity. Paklenica
is only a small part of Croatia's most interesting mountain
range of Velebit, but it is one of
the most distinctive and richest in natural beauty and interest.

"Krka
National park " :
Dalmatia has numerous karst "beauties",
rivers that flow into the sea from the mountain hinterland,
but the Krka has the greatest natural and scenic importance.
A deep gorge and seven systems of travertine or tufa cascades
form flowing lakes leaving no one indifferent, and experts
talk about the great scientific value of the river and its
surroundings.

| "Kornati"
National park
In the central part of croatian Adriatic
Sea, about 15 Nm to the west from Sibenik town, 7 Nm to the
southwest from Murter, or 15 Nm to the south from Zadar town,
there is amazing group of islands, islets and reefs (about
150 in total) named Kornati archipelago. Beauty and singularity
of the archipelago moved authorities in 1980 to proclaim a
bigger part of that area national park. Since then certain
modifications of its borders were made, so that nowadays Kornati
National Park occupies the area of about 220 km2 (54.000 acres).
